Does anxiety have a detrimental effect on your health?  You might argue that worry and anxiety are just emotions and not physical ailments.  But, have you ever heard the expression “worry yourself sick”?  The Bible says, “As a man thinketh, so is he.”  Could it be that we can make ourselves sick or sicker by being anxious?
Thanks to modern science, we now know that our bodies will produce not only the chemicals that heal us, but also the chemicals that will make us sick.  There is a reason that the Bible tells us to find faith, peace and hope.  No matter what modality of healing you choose, you should have the attitude that God can heal you through many avenues including prayer, modern medicine and of course I believe, through safe, natural, holistic methods.
I have found that one of the best tools for fighting anxiety, worry and fear is gratitude.  It is very difficult to within the same moment be truly grateful for what you have and worry about the future.  We are creations made for praise and gratitude and to be ungrateful and anxious goes against our God given nature.  When we truly let go of anxiety and embrace and receive God’s peace and love, there is a release that no drug can match.
When we medicate, either through prescriptions or self-medication, we are masking our emotions and burying them deep within our soul.  This time of year seems to be very stressful for most people.  I think that it would be a good time to start being in a constant state of gratitude and ask the Lord to release us from all worry and anxiety.
